Bihar has lifted the ban on sale of live fish after three days of ban on storage, sale and transportation of all kinds of fish.
Reports said that the ban has been lifted after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave the direction following wide spread protest from fishermen and vendors. However, the ban on storage, sales and transportation of fish from Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal will continue in Patna. This has been done following presence of formalin and heavy metals such as lead and cadmium.
The government agencies have decided to regularly check the fish consignments following the presence of formalin in fish from West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
