The United Kingdom has announced that all vessels to be built and operated from the country from 2025 would be designed as per the zero emission protocol as part of the wider strategy to lower carbon emission.
The United Kingdom has taken such a decision as part of the government’s Clean Maritime Programme, which is aimed at bringing down pollution in all sectors. The country has already made its stand clear on zero emission by declaring that it was for reducing zero gas emission by 2050. The Clean Maritime Programme is part of the Maritime Strategy 2050, which the government had already announced.
UK Maritime Minister Nusrat Ghani said that they were committed to improve the quality of air, reduce pollution and also help in overcoming climate change. Despite maritime sector an important part of their economy, the government thinks that it should go for zxero emission protocol. The Minister hoped that its initiatives would help in making the country a hub of green technologies the world over.
