With Coronavirus spreading across the globe, the International Maritime Organisation has called upon the countries to respect the requirements of “free pratique” for ships. It also called for the countries to provide proper care for all travellers and prevent unnecessary delays to ships and to persons and property on board.
The IMO said that the organisation in consultation with WHO and other partners in assisting the States in ensuring that health measures are implemented in all ways.
The Organisation said that flag State Authorities, companies, ship masters and port State authorities should cooperate in all ventures in containing the spread of the virus. The IMO said that they were ready to assist all the countries and also the maritime industry in facing the challenges posed by the present scenario.
